Doaa Elghobashy,  the Egyptian beach volleyball player, is making a triumphant return to the Olympic stage after her debut in Rio 2016. Alongside her teammate Marwa Abdelhady, Elghobashy is determined to leverage her experience to lead her team to victory at the upcoming Paris Games.

The duo has been placed in Pool A, where they will face formidable opponents from Spain, Brazil, and Italy. Their first match is scheduled against the Brazilian duo Ana Patricia Silva Ramos and Eduarda ‘Duda’ Santos Lisboa, who clinched the 2022 world championship title.

In 2016, Elghobashy and her partner Nada Meawad created history by becoming the first Egyptian tandem to compete in women’s beach volleyball at the Olympics. Elghobashy encountered a setback in her Olympic journey, as she missed the opportunity to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Games.

All Egyptian players were disqualified from the continental qualifying tournament after event organizers claimed that the coach of the Egyptian men’s team had tested positive for COVID-19. Due to close contact, the entire delegation was ruled out. The Egyptian team raised suspicions of foul play, particularly since the women’s pair was favored to secure a qualifying spot.
