Egypt’s Deputy Minister’s Tourism Visit To Hong Kong Boost Hotel Investments in 2025

Egypt’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Yomna El-Bahhar, held a series of high-level meetings in Hong Kong to boost tourism cooperation and attract investment to Egypt’s hospitality sector. The visits coincided with the opening of the exhibition “Ancient Egypt Revealed: Treasures from Egyptian Museums”, showcasing Egypt’s rich cultural heritage.

During her trip, El-Bahhar met with Rosanna Law, Hong Kong’s Secretary for Tourism, Sports and Culture, along with officials from the Hong Kong Investment Promotion Agency and a group of hotel investors. Egypt’s Consul General in Hong Kong, Baher Shweikhi, also attended the meetings.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral tourism cooperation, promoting investment in Egypt’s hotel sector, and supporting the country’s strategic plan to double hotel capacity to meet the expected rise in international tourist arrivals. El-Bahhar highlighted Egypt’s diverse tourism offerings, from historical and cultural attractions to leisure and eco-tourism, underscoring the country’s potential as a top global travel destination.

Secretary Law praised the exhibition and expressed admiration for Egypt’s ancient civilization, noting Hong Kong’s role as the next international stop after Shanghai. Meetings with investors explored opportunities for new hotel projects and collaboration in tourism development, reinforcing Egypt’s commitment to sustainable growth in the sector.

The visit underscores Egypt’s proactive efforts to expand international tourism partnerships and attract foreign investment, strengthening its position as a leading destination in the Middle East and North Africa.
