At the 2024 Paris Paralympics, the Egyptian delegation performed excellently, bringing home seven medals, including four women, across various sports for the second championship in a row. This raises the total number of medals the country has scored since its first participation in 1972 to 191.
The athletes’ performance maintains Egypt’s spot as the second most successful country in Africa in the Paralympics, following South Africa. To celebrate our athletes’ success, we compiled a list of all the winner women of the Paris 2024 Paralympics:
Rehab Ahmed
Gold – Women’s 55 KG Powerlifting Competition
Powerlifter Rehab Ahmed finally scored her first gold this year after having secured two silver medals in her first two participations in the Paralympics in 2016 and 2020.
Fatma Mahrous
Silver – Women’s Weightlifting Competition
Fatma Mahrous secured a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, lifting 139 kilograms, setting a new Paralympic record in the women’s weightlifting category.
Safaa Hassan
Bronze – Women’s 79 KG Powerlifting Competition
Safaa Hassan’s first participation in the Paralympics saw her score a bronze medal in the 79-kilogram powerlifting category.
Nadia Aly
Bronze – Women’s 86+ KG Powerlifting Competition
50-year-old powerlifter Nadia Aly won in the women’s above 86-kilogram powerlifting category. This is Aly’s fifth time representing Egypt in the Summer Paralympics, having participated in the 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2016 competitions. She has also scored medals in her first three appearances at the global championship.
