A group of prominent Egyptian women were named among the winners of the 2025 State Awards for Excellence, celebrating their achievements in the fields of arts, literature, and social sciences. The annual honors, conferred by the Supreme Council of Culture, recognize outstanding contributions to Egypt’s cultural and intellectual life.
The announcement was made by Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Henno, who also serves as President of the Supreme Council of Culture. The results followed a formal voting session attended by a panel of leading academics, cultural figures, and representatives of professional unions. Dr. Ashraf El-Azzazy, Secretary General of the Council, took part in the proceedings.
Among the awardees was author Fatma El-Maadoul, who received the State Award of Appreciation in Literature for her decades-long work in children’s storytelling and literary advocacy. In the arts category, Dr. Nazly Madkour was recognized for her pioneering work in visual arts, and the award was also posthumously granted to the late Dr. Moshira Eissa, whose legacy in musicology and cultural preservation remains influential.
In the social sciences, Dr. Nahla Emam received the State Award for Excellence, while Dr. Mona Haggag and Dr. Nevine Mossad were both awarded the prestigious State Award of Appreciation, acknowledging their impactful academic and research contributions to Egypt’s social and political discourse.
These accolades are widely seen as a celebration of women’s continued leadership across Egypt’s cultural and intellectual spheres.
