Egyptian Squash player Nouran Gohar won her first PSA World Tour title of the season yesterday after defeating Olivia Weaver 3-0 in just under 40 minutes, according to the “SEE” website.
Gohar said, “As I have said before, this is home, literally my home. I live about five minutes away from here, and I’m very thankful to the Black Ball management team that I can hit when I want. I’m very lucky to have such a facility. This is the best facility, not just in Egypt but in the world.
“It’s just amazing, to be honest. I was very happy not to be playing an Egyptian because sometimes half the crowd is on your side and the other for the other player. But today, they were all cheering for me.”
In the same context, Egypt’s Squash star Mostafa Asal was crowned the 2024 champion of the Black Ball tournament after defeating Egypt’s Squash star Ali Farag in the final.
Asal, the world No.4 seed, defeated Farag, the world’s No.1 seed, 3-1 in the final.
Asal said after his victory, “It’s an incredible moment. To be back and win another title has definitely boosted me up for the El Gouna Championships and the World Championships.
“I want to thank everyone on my team, my family, and my coach, James Willstrop, in Pontefract. They’ve done a fantastic job for me and changed my squash life. So, I want to thank everyone, especially my family.
“I’m glad to be playing squash as it should be. It’s a pleasure to play with Ali [Farag]. He’s an incredible player and athlete; this season, he has been unbeatable, too. So, to beat him tonight is an added bonus for my career. I wish him all the success.”
