Egyptian Red Crescent Sets Up Relief and Emergency Services Hub in Sudan

The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) has established a center for relief and emergency services at the Arqin border crossing with Sudan to assist those affected by the crisis. ERC provides psychological support, medicine, snacks, telephone and online communications, transportation arrangements, family ties restoration, as well as first aid to passers-by both in Sudan and Aswan upon their arrival in the city.

Further, ERC also mulls partnering with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement for the establishment of safe passages for civilians in case the security situation in Sudan continues to deteriorate. Further, coordination efforts were carried out with Sudanese parties and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The Central Operations Room is receiving communications from anyone who needs help in the current crisis.

The ERC’s efforts are part of a larger operation by Egypt to evacuate its nationals and military troops from Sudan, where violence has erupted in recent days.
