On Monday, November 13, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi took part in the opening of the third Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2023), which took place in Cairo.
The president was greeted at the Al Manara International Conference Center in New Cairo by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir, and several cabinet ministers.
The African Union (AU), the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) Secretariat, and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) work together to organize the IATF2023.
“The AfCFTA Marketplace” is the theme for IATF2023. According to the African Union, the IATF2023 gives companies a platform to reach an integrated African market of over 1.3 billion people with a GDP of over $3.5 trillion established under the African Continental Free Trade Area.
$43 billion worth of trade and investment agreements are expected to close at IATF 2023. According to the African Development Bank (AfDB), the fair is expected to draw 35,000 buyers and visitors, 1600 business exhibitors, entrepreneurs, investors, and financiers from 75 participating countries.
