A high-profile Egyptian parliamentary delegation has concluded a significant visit to key European institutions, including the European Parliament, the Belgian Parliament, and the European Commission. The aim was to bolster bilateral cooperation on a range of pressing issues, such as regional stability, human rights, refugee crises, economic development, and sustainable energy.

The delegation, led by prominent figures such as MP Tarek Radwan, chairman of the Human Rights Committee, and MP Abdel-Hadi Al-Qasabi, chairman of the Social Solidarity Committee, was accompanied by Egypt’s Ambassador to the EU, Ahmed Abu-Zeid. Over the course of the visit, they engaged with European leaders, including EU Special Representative for Human Rights Olof Skoog and François Cornet d’Elzius, Director of MENA Affairs at Belgium’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Discussions focused on strengthening partnerships and enhancing economic ties, with an emphasis on initiatives worth over 5 billion euros. The delegation highlighted Egypt’s commitment to regional stability and its ongoing efforts to improve human rights, particularly through the National Strategy for Human Rights, as well as the country’s role in hosting over 10 million refugees despite challenging economic conditions.

In addition to addressing the socio-political landscape, the Egyptian representatives underscored Egypt’s commitment to advancing gender equality, supporting vulnerable groups, and pioneering renewable energy solutions, such as green hydrogen projects.

European counterparts expressed keen interest in continued collaboration, recognizing the importance of strategic dialogue in tackling mutual challenges. The visit set the stage for a deeper and more integrated partnership between Egypt and Europe, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to joint action on global issues.
