Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, met with Ambassador Soha Gendi, the Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, at the Ministry of International Cooperation headquarters in the New Administrative Capital as part of a joint coordination effort between the two ministries to maximize the benefits of development cooperation programs, existing international partnerships, and future cooperation programs.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed the ongoing development cooperation portfolio with multilateral and bilateral development partners, as well as the projects currently in implementation, emphasizing the importance of coordination between the two sides to maximize the benefit of these projects and ensure that development projects are consistent with national priorities and SDGs, as well as improving cooperation to implement projects effectively.
Moreover, the two ministers affirmed their willingness to implement presidential directives aimed at combating illegal immigration, as well as to strengthen efforts to provide training for Egyptian youth, as well as capacity-building and self-development programs, to increase job opportunities through collaboration with the Arab Republic of Egypt development partners.
It is worth noting that the current portfolio of development financing with multilateral and bilateral development partners amounts to $21.4 billion and is diversified in many development sectors in the areas of investment in human capital, sustainable infrastructure, small and medium enterprises, and women’s empowerment.
