Egyptian Foreign Minister Meets EU High Representative in Brussels

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, held a meeting with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, in Brussels.

During the discussions, Abdelatty underscored the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the EU, particularly in light of the ongoing developments in the Middle East. He emphasized the need for increased coordination between the two sides to promote regional security and stability.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister also expressed appreciation for the European Union’s financial support, citing the disbursement of the first tranche of one billion euros from the EU’s financial package for Egypt. He expressed optimism about the approval of a second tranche, valued at four billion euros.

A key topic of conversation was the issue of immigration, with Abdelatty noting that it represents a shared challenge for both Egypt and the EU. He called for a balanced approach to cooperation on this matter, ensuring that the interests and priorities of both parties are met.

Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed the details of the meeting.
