Egyptian Expat to Launch €100 M Smartphone Recycling Plant in SCZONE

 Egypt’s Minister of Emigration, Soha Gendi, received Samuel Mathias, a prominent electronics engineer and entrepreneur based in Paris to discuss his plans to plans to establish a €100 million factory within 2 years. The factory will be located Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) for smartphone refurbishment and recycling. The Ministry has expressed strong support for the initiative, with Gendi highlighting close collaboration with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Chairman, Hossam Haiba, to facilitate its launch.

The SCZONE  will be a strategic location for the project, offering logistical advantages and access to resources that will enhance the project’s economic impact. Additionally, Mathias’ venture will involve collaboration with a leading French telecommunications company, leveraging expertise in the field.

 The recycling and refurbishment of smartphones not only promotes environmental responsibility but also creates new job opportunities. Mathias himself has expressed his intention to expand investment and create substantial employment opportunities for young Egyptians.
