During a landmark dinner with Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s ambitious plan to improve its investment climate and encourage private sector involvement in driving the country’s economic growth. El-Sisi outlined the government’s commitment to offering incentives, removing barriers, and creating an environment conducive to foreign investments.

This exclusive event, attended by high-ranking Norwegian officials, including the Minister of International Development and senior executives from leading Norwegian companies and investment funds, was part of President El-Sisi’s historic visit to Norway. It marks the first time an Egyptian president has visited the Scandinavian country since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1936.

In his address, El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s efforts to attract foreign direct investment, particularly in sectors where both nations share interests. These include energy, particularly renewable energy, transportation, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, and information technology. He invited Norwegian companies and investment funds to seize the growing opportunities in Egypt’s market, building upon the already successful partnerships between several major Norwegian companies and Egypt.

El-Sisi also discussed the valuable exchange of ideas during his meetings with Norwegian officials, which provided insights into Norway’s vision for enhancing its investments in Egypt. He emphasized the mutual benefits of expanding economic cooperation and taking concrete steps toward realizing these goals.

The dinner was a highlight of El-Sisi’s broader European tour, which includes stops in Denmark and Ireland. Earlier in the day, the Egyptian president held productive meetings with King Harald V, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and Speaker of Norway’s Parliament, Masud Gharahkhani. El-Sisi also engaged with members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense in the Norwegian Parliament, where discussions extended to Egypt’s role in promoting stability across the Middle East.

El-Sisi’s visit marks a significant step in strengthening Egypt-Norway relations and is expected to pave the way for increased Norwegian investments in Egypt, bolstering both nations’ economic growth and fostering long-term cooperation.
