Egypt has been officially selected as the host country for the 2025 World Squash Junior Championships, following ratification by the World Squash Federation (WSF) board. The event will feature both individual and team competitions for men and women. It will take place from July 20 to August 1, 2025, at New Cairo’s Black Ball Sporting Club.

The decision marks a major milestone for Egypt, which continues to solidify its position as a global squash powerhouse. The nation’s passion for the sport, combined with a thriving grassroots system, was underscored by its recent success at the 2024 World Junior Championships. Egyptian players Amina Orfi and Mohamed Zakaria triumphed in the individual events, while the Egyptian teams swept both the men’s and women’s titles.

Commitment to Promoting Squash

Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, expressed the nation’s enthusiasm for hosting the event, highlighting the country’s readiness and commitment to providing full support to ensure its success. “We greatly appreciate the World Squash Federation’s decision to select Egypt as the host for the World Junior Squash Championships,” Dr. Sobhy stated. “We are fully committed to offering all the necessary facilities and support to make this tournament a success. Additionally, we celebrate the inclusion of squash in the 2028 Olympic Games and will continue our work to promote the sport, especially among young athletes.”

The 2025 World Juniors will take place at Black Ball Sporting Club, a premier venue with a distinguished history in hosting national championships and international events. Mohamed Raef, CEO of Black Ball Club, emphasized the significance of the venue and the event. Hosting this prestigious championship further cements Egypt’s status as a leading hub for squash, and we are excited to welcome players and enthusiasts from around the world.”

A Step Forward for Junior Squash Talent

The World Squash Junior Championships, held annually, attract the world’s top players under the age of 19. With both individual and team events, the tournament serves as a critical stage for emerging talents.

WSF President Zena Wooldridge celebrated Egypt’s role in the sport and its role in shaping future squash stars. “It’s an exciting time for squash, especially with the inclusion of the sport in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics,” she said. “Egypt is unparalleled when it comes to squash, and the home crowd will be eager to cheer on their young players, who are inspired by the legacy of Egyptian legends in the sport. Black Ball is an ideal venue for this event, and we are thrilled to return to Egypt after the success of the 2022 Women’s World Team Championship.”

Fostering Future Generations of Squash Players

President of the Egyptian Squash Federation, Assem Khalifa, expressed his gratitude for Egypt’s selection as the host. “On behalf of Egyptian Squash, I thank the World Squash Federation for choosing Egypt to host the 2025 World Squash Junior Championships,” Khalifa said. “This event will be an inspiring moment for our junior athletes and will continue to fuel the growth of squash in Egypt for generations to come.”

The 2025 championships will further highlight Egypt’s dedication to nurturing young talent, ensuring that the country remains a dominant force in the world of squash. As Egypt prepares to host the World Squash Junior Championships, the spotlight will once again shine on its rich history, passionate community, and bright future in the sport.

Organized by the World Squash Federation, the World Squash Junior Championships are the premier global competition for players under the age of 19, with individual and team events.
