News Agencies

Egypt will build its first multi-purpose pharmaceutical raw materials factory. The facility will be located in the Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone, with a total investment of $120 million.

The factory, covering an expansive 96,828 square meters, will be a key player in the production of both active and inactive pharmaceutical raw materials, as well as intermediate materials and essential chemicals for the pharmaceutical industry. This development marks a milestone in Egypt’s ambitions to strengthen its manufacturing capacity and enhance its position in global markets.

A Strategic Investment for Egypt’s Economy

The announcement came during a signing ceremony attended by Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population. Abdel Ghaffar emphasized the strategic importance of the project, noting that the new facility would play a crucial role in increasing Egypt’s pharmaceutical exports, expanding its presence in African and global markets, and contributing to the country’s economic growth.

“The establishment of this factory reflects Egypt’s commitment to improving the pharmaceutical sector and boosting its industrial capabilities. It aligns perfectly with the country’s comprehensive development plans,” said Abdel Ghaffar.

A Collaborative Effort for Growth

The Arab Company for Pharmaceutical Raw Materials (Arab API) will spearhead the construction, management, and operation of the facility. The company has committed to ensuring that the project complies with environmental laws and sustainability standards throughout its lifecycle.

Additionally, the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) will play a vital role in supporting the project by providing the necessary infrastructure and ensuring that the factory has access to essential services and utilities.

Enhancing Local and International Competitiveness

This factory is part of Egypt’s broader strategy to boost its pharmaceutical manufacturing sector, attract foreign investment, and create new opportunities for local businesses. By producing essential raw materials domestically, the project is expected to reduce reliance on imports, while fostering greater competition in both regional and international markets.

The new facility also highlights Egypt’s dedication to becoming a key player in the global pharmaceutical industry, with the potential to export high-quality raw materials to countries across the world.
