Khaled Qasim, the Assistant Minister of Local Development and Ministry Spokesperson, recently shared some vital information with the public regarding the operating hours of shops, cafes, and restaurants this summer.
During a phone interview with the TeN channel, Qasim explained that governorates throughout Egypt will implement the summer dates for opening and closing stores starting Friday.
Qasim explained that Article Six of the ministerial decree issued in 2020 specified that summer months would start on the last Friday of April and end on the last Thursday of September. As such, the Ministry of Local Development has set the working hours for restaurants, cafes, and bazaars to operate daily from 7:00 AM until 11:00 PM. This means that people will have plenty of time to enjoy the warm summer evenings and explore all Egypt offers.
Qasim pointed out that restaurants and cafes, including those in commercial malls, will open daily from five am and close at one am.
Opening hours will increase on Thursdays, Fridays and official holidays to midnight, he said, while takeaway and home delivery services for cafes and restaurants will continue 24 hours a day.
All workshops and craft shops within residential blocks will be open from eight am and close at seven pm, he said, adding that grocery stores, supermarkets, bakeries, and ovens are excluded from the decision.
