Egypt has declined to collaborate with Israel regarding the passage of aid into Gaza through the Rafah crossing, citing Israel’s “unacceptable escalation.” This information was reported by Egypt’s state-affiliated Alqahera News satellite TV, citing a senior official.
An official has stated that Egypt holds Israel accountable for the worsening situation in the Gaza Strip.
On May 7, Israeli forces took control of the main border crossing at Rafah, thereby closing off a crucial passage for aid into the besieged enclave.
The United Nations and other international aid organizations have expressed concern over the closure of the two crossings into southern Gaza: Rafah and the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom. This closure has effectively isolated the enclave from external aid, with very few stores available within its borders.
