Egypt, represented by Egypt Post, has been elected to prominent positions within the Universal Postal Union (UPU) during the 28th Universal Postal Congress, held in Dubai, UAE from September 8 to 19 under the theme “Leading the Change, Creating the Future.”
With delegates from 144 countries in attendance, Egypt Post secured membership on both the Council of Administration (CA) and the Postal Operations Council (POC)—the UPU’s two main governing bodies. In a further recognition of its growing global presence, Egypt was also elected Co-Chair of the Postal Supply Chain Committee under the POC.
A Vote of Confidence in Egypt’s Global Postal Role
These elections mark a significant milestone for Egypt’s postal sector and reflect the international community’s confidence in Egypt Post’s leadership and performance. Notably, Egypt achieved the highest number of votes in the elections, signaling strong support for its active engagement and reform-oriented approach on the global postal stage.
The election outcome underscores Egypt Post’s rising influence, bolstered by years of work in developing infrastructure, digitizing services, and modernizing operations to meet the needs of both citizens and businesses. These efforts have also positioned Egypt as a key player in regional and international e-commerce logistics and financial inclusion.
Shaping Global Postal Policies
Membership in the CA and POC places Egypt at the heart of global decision-making on postal policy, governance, and operational standards. As Co-Chair of the Postal Supply Chain Committee, Egypt will help shape the future of cross-border logistics, promote greater integration of postal and e-commerce networks, and contribute to setting international supply chain standards.
This achievement enhances Egypt’s ability to advocate for fair, sustainable, and tech-driven postal development, aligning with broader efforts to support digital transformation, economic growth, and global connectivity.
Egypt Post’s continued engagement at this level is expected to drive further innovation and help strengthen the reliability and efficiency of postal and financial services for millions of citizens nationwide.
