Supporting Women’s Role in Global Peace and Security

The seminar reflects the Ministry of Interior’s and the National Council for Women’s shared commitment to strengthening women’s participation in peace and security efforts. It aimed to highlight the crucial role of women in fostering social stability, advancing equality, and contributing to the sustainability of peace in conflict and post-conflict zones.

Marking 25 Years of UN Security Council Resolution 1325

This was the second seminar organized by the center this year, commemorating the 25th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. The landmark resolution emphasizes the importance of women’s involvement in decision-making processes and their role in conflict prevention, peace negotiations, and peacekeeping missions.

Representatives from several international organizations concerned with peacebuilding and women’s rights attended the event, reflecting Egypt’s active engagement with the global agenda on gender equality in security.

The seminar featured inspiring presentations from Egyptian women officers who served in UN peacekeeping missions across various conflict zones worldwide.

They shared their on-the-ground experiences, the challenges they faced, and the humanitarian impact of their work in protecting civilians and supporting vulnerable communities. International organization representatives praised the professionalism and dedication of Egyptian female police officers, noting that Egypt is now among the top contributors of women personnel to UN peacekeeping operations.
