Egypt Launches 2025 African Space Training Program to Propel Continental Satellite Advancements

The Egyptian Space Agency, in collaboration with the African Space Agency and under the guidance of Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, launched the 2025 Basic Space Technology Training Grant on January 13, 2025. The event, held at Cairo’s Space Academy, welcomed 21 engineers and specialists from 20 African nations. This program aims to enhance Africa’s satellite technology expertise and foster greater integration within the continent’s space sector.

Dr. Sharif Siddiqui, Executive President of the Egyptian Space Agency, highlighted the initiative’s importance in leveraging Egypt’s space technology knowledge and facilities to empower African nations. Since its launch in 2021, the program has already trained 71 participants from 34 African countries, underscoring Egypt’s commitment to advancing space capabilities across the continent.

The 2025 training curriculum includes an immersive, hands-on approach to satellite technology, offered in both English and French, to facilitate cross-linguistic collaboration and maximize skill development. By offering cutting-edge space technology training, Egypt is positioning itself as a regional leader in space exploration and contributing significantly to the future growth of Africa’s space industry.

The program is a significant milestone in Egypt’s broader efforts to foster scientific cooperation and innovation in Africa, aligning with its ongoing strategy to strengthen the continent’s technological infrastructure and global competitiveness.
