Egypt’s Armed Forces revealed the details of the Bright Star 2023 joint military exercise, set to take place at the Mohammed Nagib Military Base. The training will involve 8,000 troops from 34 countries from August 31 to September 14. Its main objective is to enhance military cooperation and address common threats and risks.

Bright Star is a well-established joint military exercise held since October 1980. It is one of the world’s largest and oldest exercises, with the United States and other countries participating every two years in Egypt. The exercise allows participating nations to share expertise and learn about the latest weapons and military equipment. It also covers various conventional and irregular warfare scenarios, including security and counter-terrorism operations.

The exercise will feature ground forces, infantry, armored vehicles, artillery units, navy, air force, and special operations forces from the Egyptian and US sides and other participating countries. The Thunderbolt and Paratroopers units will also be involved.

The Bright Star exercise is a testament to Egypt’s strategic and security relations with the US and other countries. It showcases Egypt’s ability to combine military doctrines from the Eastern and Western combat schools. The US and NATO countries consider Bright Star as an essential exercise, as it provides them with experience in fighting in desert areas. Egypt and other participating countries also benefit from gaining new knowledge of Western weapons and tactics.
