Mona Yousef

Egypt’s commitment to women empowerment, financial inclusion, and institutional excellence was strongly reflected during the fourth edition of the Egypt Government Excellence Awards, where leading national initiatives and ministries were honored under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

“Tahwisha” Initiative Wins National Recognition

The “Tahwisha” Digital Savings and Lending Initiative, implemented by the National Council for Women (NCW), secured third place in the Innovative Government Initiative Award category. The award was presented during the official ceremony organized by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, and attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and senior government officials.

“Tahwisha” aims to promote financial literacy, savings culture, and access to micro-lending among women, particularly in underserved communities. The initiative has successfully reached more than half a million women across Egypt’s governorates, strengthening their economic capabilities and supporting household financial stability.

NCW President Counselor Amal Ammar expressed pride in the recognition, describing it as a culmination of the council’s sustained efforts to advance women’s economic independence and financial inclusion. She highlighted that the initiative has played a key role in improving living standards and reinforcing social and economic stability.

Ammar extended her appreciation to Engineer Amr Soliman, NCW board member and supervisor of the initiative, Nashwa Mostafa, Acting National Director of the Financial Inclusion Program, and the entire implementation team, praising their professionalism and dedication in turning national strategies into impactful, on-the-ground programs.

Ministry of Culture Wins Award for Gender Equality

In a parallel achievement, the Ministry of Culture was awarded the Government Excellence Award for Equal Opportunities and Women Empowerment, which was presented to Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The award recognizes the ministry’s efforts to promote gender equality, enhance women’s participation in decision-making positions, and foster a fair and inclusive work environment aligned with Egypt Vision 2030 and the national sustainable development strategy.

Dr. Hano stated that the award serves as a strong incentive to further develop the ministry’s internal work environment and strengthen women’s leadership roles across cultural institutions. He emphasized that placing people at the heart of development remains a core principle of the ministry’s policies and community-oriented programs.

“The award reflects the Egyptian state’s firm commitment to justice, equality, and equal opportunities within public institutions,” Hano said, noting that the achievement is the result of collective efforts across all ministry sectors to uphold transparency, efficiency, and merit-based advancement.

High-Level Attendance and Strategic Partnership

The ceremony  received  Deputy Prime Ministers Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, and Ohood Al Roumi, UAE Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, alongside ministers, governors, ambassadors, media leaders, and university presidents.

Egypt Government Excellence Awards are part of a strategic partnership between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, aimed at transferring expertise, developing performance measurement systems, and enhancing institutional efficiency within the Egyptian government, inspired by the UAE’s global best practices.
