The Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) has successfully completed the “Rotaplast” Pediatric Cosmetic Surgery Caravan at its hospitals in Luxor, Egypt, in partnership with Rotary Egypt. This initiative, which took place in April 2023, marks a significant achievement in enhancing medical care for children suffering from congenital deformities and post-burn scars in Egypt.

Key Highlights of the Rotaplast Caravan

Comprehensive Medical Support
The caravan provided crucial medical support for children with conditions such as cleft lip, cleft palate, and post-burn deformities. A total of 170 cases were assessed, and 60 complex surgeries were performed at the Children’s Specialized Hospital, part of the Egypt Healthcare Authority’s network in Luxor. The surgeries were carried out by specialists from Kasr Al-Aini Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, alongside 21 international experts in cosmetic surgery from the United States.

Training and Workshops for Medical Professionals
In addition to the surgeries, the caravan also included advanced workshops and training sessions for the medical staff. These sessions were designed to enhance the skills of doctors and nurses in the latest cosmetic surgery techniques. Experts from both Egypt and the United States conducted hands-on training, focusing on state-of-the-art methods for treating congenital deformities and scars. The workshops also covered modern pharmaceutical treatments and advanced therapeutic protocols, contributing to the improvement of the overall patient care experience.
