Egypt Gears Up for U-20 Africa Cup of Nations with Strategic Meeting With United Sports on Organizational and Technical Plans

In preparation for hosting the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, held an extensive meeting with Eng. Hany Abou Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, and Mr. Mohamed Yehia, Chairman of the Sports United. The meeting focused on coordinating the organizational and technical aspects for the upcoming tournament, scheduled from April 26 to May 18, 2025, following Ivory Coast’s withdrawal as the host.

The meeting, which also included senior officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, EFA, and Sports United, reviewed joint efforts to ensure the event’s success, underscoring Egypt’s ability to host major international sporting events with excellence and professionalism.

Sobhy reaffirmed Egypt’s leadership role in Africa’s sports landscape, emphasizing that hosting this prestigious tournament highlights the country’s capacity to organize high-profile events. He assured that the Egyptian government is fully committed to providing all necessary resources to ensure the event’s success and reinforce Egypt’s reputation as a global sports hub.

Sobhy also emphasized the importance of collaboration between all relevant parties, urging heightened preparedness across all levels to ensure an exceptional experience for players, officials, and spectators. The Minister’s remarks reinforced the national team’s efforts to achieve success at the continental level, with a particular focus on advancing youth football.
