After their win against England for the first time in the semi-finals, the USA Women’s world team will face Egypt’s defending champions at the finals; both teams will be playing on opposite sides to win the title of the WSF Women’s World Team Championship.

This came after Sarah-Jane Perry, England’s no.1 announced that she can’t continue the competition and forfeited the match, which kick-started the confidence in the USA team to reach the finals.

Egypt, on the other hand, has proven its athletic powers during the entire championship at “Madinaty” sports club. The defending champions team, led by Nouran Gohar, Hania El Hammamy, and Nour El Sherbini has achieved win after win, leading up to the finals, which will take place at 20:00 (GMT+2) at the Madinaty Sporting Club today, December 16, with a pre-final concert taking place from 18:00.

Amanda Sobhy, the American champion who beat England’s Jasmine’s Hutton expressed her pride to reach the finals and enthusiasm for the final match. She said “We’re proud of what we did, proud for our country, for the team, and for each other”, followed by US Coach, Ong Beng Hee’s statement “We felt the pressure. With Amanda having a hard match yesterday, we were not sure about her condition, but today, she showed up.”

As the USA women’s team prepare for today’s match, they will undoubtedly take Egypt’s impressive team into account, after witnessing their impressive performance against Malaysia to reach the final for the third consecutive time.

“Aifa’s game is a bit unorthodox and difficult to read, so you need to be on your toes and alert. And sometimes you wake up and it’s not your day.” Engy Kheirallah, the Egyptian Coach stated after Gohar’s unexpected loss against Afia Azman, World No. 31; “But at the end of the day, that’s what makes Gohar World No.1. Even when she is not at her best and not 100 percent, she still delivers. And that’s what makes top players special.” She added.
