Egypt’s National Council for Women has launched a new training initiative titled “Make Your Initiative… Noura’s Heroines”, under the umbrella of the broader Noura Program for Girls’ Empowerment. This effort falls within the national framework for investing in girls, which operates under the high patronage of Egypt’s First Lady, Entissar El-Sisi.
The three-day intensive training aims to amplify the success of girls who have completed the comprehensive 40-week journey of the Noura Program. It brings together 300 young women and facilitators — all of whom have demonstrated exceptional competence and commitment — to take on leadership roles as community trainers and changemakers.
Sustainable Impact and Community Leadership
Shereen Maher, National Coordinator for the Girls’ Empowerment Program, emphasized the program’s lasting impact:“These trainings are catalysts for sustainable transformation in individuals and entire communities. This is a bold, innovative entry point into a new phase of empowerment that increases both institutional value and community impact.”
The core goal of this next phase is to equip participants with critical knowledge, life skills, and civic behaviors that enable them to become influential community leaders. The young women are trained to design and implement local initiatives tailored to the needs of their own communities — positioning themselves as protagonists of grassroots change.
Empowering Through Digital Tools and Real-World Simulation
The curriculum of “Make Your Initiative… Noura’s Heroines” includes modules on community needs assessment, leveraging digital tools for social impact, and fostering multi-sectoral partnerships. In addition, participants engage in real-life simulations that connect community action with the fundamental rights of boys and girls, encouraging holistic understanding and active citizenship.
The program also creates a safe space for open dialogue around women’s issues and offers a structured framework to brainstorm sustainable solutions. By linking these initiatives to lived experiences, the training helps young women envision themselves as agents of positive change — equipped to tackle gender disparities and socio-economic challenges.
A Model for Scalable Change
With a unique peer-to-peer knowledge transfer approach, Noura’s program is setting a precedent in how grassroots empowerment can be institutionalized and scaled. By empowering program graduates to mentor the next generation, it ensures a ripple effect of empowerment that is both participatory and sustainable.
As Egypt continues to invest in its youth — particularly its girls — this initiative marks a pivotal moment in the national agenda for gender equity, civic participation, and social innovation.
