Egypt, Azerbaijan Strengthen Urban Development Ties on WUF12

During the 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny, met with Azerbaijan’s Chairperson of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, Anar Guliyev. The meeting focused on sharing Egypt’s urban development experience and exploring opportunities for cooperation between the two nations.

El-Sherbiny highlighted Egypt’s significant strides in urban development under President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, including the establishment of numerous sustainable smart cities and the expansion of infrastructure projects. He emphasized the potential for Egyptian contracting companies to contribute to Azerbaijan’s urban development initiatives, drawing on their extensive experience in Africa and the Middle East.

Guliyev expressed admiration for Egypt’s urban renaissance and the strong bilateral relations between the two countries. He underscored Azerbaijan’s interest in learning from Egypt’s expertise and strengthening cooperation in the field of urban development.

The meeting underscored the mutual benefits of collaboration between Egypt and Azerbaijan, as both countries strive to create sustainable and thriving urban environments.
