On Sunday, US Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg and Acting Assistant Secretary Amy Holman co-hosted a call with over 60 American businesses and Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan ElKhatib. The purpose of the call was to promote collaboration in these vital sectors, which will be a key focus for future US-Egypt economic relations.
The call, part of an ongoing series of discussions, highlighted business opportunities for American companies in Egypt. It featured companies from 27 US states offering innovative, affordable healthcare solutions. Ambassador Garg emphasized that the call marked a significant step toward increasing US-Egyptian cooperation in healthcare and medical technology.
This initiative follows several key dialogues between the two nations, including the second session of the Joint Economic Commission and Strategic Dialogue held earlier this fall. With over 1,000 US-affiliated companies operating in Egypt, the US remains Egypt’s largest source of foreign direct investment in Africa, attracting $13.7 billion in 2023.
In addition, the SelectUSA program, led by the US Department of Commerce, encourages Egyptian companies to consider the US market for investment opportunities, aiming to promote job creation and economic development. Since its launch, the initiative has facilitated over $250 billion in investments.
