Egypt has moved up 6 spots in the Sustainable Development Report 2023 rankings, rising to 81st out of 166 countries.
The report, published by the University of Cambridge in collaboration with the German foundation Bertelsmann Stiftung and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), assesses countries’ progress toward achieving sustainable development goals and highlights areas requiring rapid advancement.
Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the report reflects Egypt’s “evolving performance” in achieving sustainable development goals in 2023, according to the “Daily News Egypt” website.
She added that the country’s improved performance is due to its “dedicated efforts” towards these goals.
The report notes that Egypt has made progress in achieving Goal 4, “Quality Education,” Goal 7, “Affordable and Clean Energy,” and Goal 17, “Partnerships for the Goals.”
In addition, Egypt’s index score increased to 69.6 in 2023, compared to 68.7 in 2022. This reflects the country’s continued progress towards achieving sustainable development goals.
