According to “El Youm El 7”, Christian Berger, Head of the European Union Delegation, stressed the importance of cinema and art and underlined its enormous impact on the lives of millions of people, especially with the ability of films to draw our attention, as decision-makers and members of society to many issues, including social and economic issues.

During a symposium on “The Impact of Drama on Social Awareness,” Berger pointed out that cinema has greatly influenced our societies and contributed to increasing interest in issues such as gender equality, violence against women, population growth, social and economic change, youth involvement, climate and technological changes, and many other issues.

Many laws related to women’s issues were amended, in addition to launching a number of programs and initiatives to develop the Egyptian family, support slum areas, and raise awareness of Egyptian society against female genital mutilation.

He further explained that the EU has successfully developed a strategic partnership with Egypt in many fields, and many programs have been implemented to support the most vulnerable groups by raising awareness and improving services, including social protection programs, family development, and women and youth empowerment, through the cooperation with Egyptian partners.

He stated: We are promoting development and social protection initiatives. These efforts aim to raise awareness and improve services, especially for the most vulnerable.

At the end of his speech, Berger expressed his pride in partnering with the Ministry of Social Solidarity to support the awareness program, which had an effective role in raising awareness and supporting the most vulnerable groups within the framework of the national protection scheme “Solidarity and Dignity” or (Takaful and Karama), noting that the program succeeded in making society more concerned with issues like female genital mutilation, child marriage, education, health, women’s rights, people with disabilities, and economic empowerment.
