Egypt’s Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the “Hayah Karima” Foundation, a prominent entity spearheading social development across Egypt’s most vulnerable communities.
The agreement, inked at the CBE headquarters in Cairo, reflects a shared vision to empower disadvantaged populations, promote economic inclusion, and foster a culture of volunteerism—particularly within the banking sector.
A United Vision for Social Advancement
The MoU was officially signed by Ms. Ghada Tawfik, Sub-Governor of the CBE for Corporate Social Responsibility, and Ms. Ohoud Wafi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at the Hayah Karima Foundation.
At the heart of this partnership is a commitment to integrated social development projects that enhance the quality of life in underserved Egyptian governorates. The initiative aligns directly with the strategic pillars of Egypt’s Vision 2030, which prioritizes inclusive growth, human capital development, and sustainable community-building.
Empowering Through Volunteerism
The collaboration not only strengthens the operational scope of both institutions but also underscores a broader national agenda: the institutionalization of volunteerism as a lever for long-term societal impact. As part of this agreement, the CBE will engage its employees in structured volunteer activities, coordinated in partnership with the Hayah Karima Foundation.
This approach directly supports several key objectives:
- Encouraging active citizen participation in national development.
- Advancing social equity and cohesion.
- Promoting values of compassion, responsibility, and civic duty.
By mobilizing its human resources, the CBE aims to set a precedent for how public institutions can maximize social return on investment through strategic partnerships and employee engagement.
“Together We Make an Impact” Initiative
In parallel with the MoU signing, the CBE has launched a new flagship program titled “Together We Make an Impact”, designed to further entrench the values of institutional volunteerism within Egypt’s banking sector.
This initiative seeks to:
- Cultivate a volunteer-driven mindset among bank employees.
- Leverage their skills and expertise to generate measurable outcomes in community development.
- Establish the banking sector as a pillar of national solidarity and progress.
Building a Sustainable and Inclusive Future
The partnership between the Central Bank of Egypt and the Hayah Karima Foundation highlights the increasing role of financial institutions in national development efforts, moving beyond traditional mandates to embrace social responsibility as a strategic imperative.
“This MoU is not just a formal agreement,” noted Ms. Ghada Tawfik during the signing ceremony. “It is a testament to our deep-rooted belief that economic policy and social responsibility must go hand in hand to ensure a more equitable and empowered society.”
Ms. Ohoud Wafi echoed this sentiment, stating, “By aligning with the Central Bank, we are amplifying our reach and impact, demonstrating how public-private cooperation can reshape lives and communities.”
