As the much-anticipated annual half marathon approaches, Cairo is gearing up for a bustling weekend of athletic excellence. The event, set to take place on Friday, will see the closure of several streets in Heliopolis to accommodate the thousands of participants expected to take part in the popular sports extravaganza.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Cairo Governorate, the Cairo Half Marathon promises to be a thrilling display of athleticism and determination. With its annual tradition, the event showcases Cairo’s commitment to promoting sports and healthy living among its residents.
Starting at 5: 00 a.m. Cairo Local Time, the marathon will commence at the gates of Maryland Park in Heliopolis. With an estimated 5,000 participants, the event will feature various categories, including the 21KM Run, 10KM Run, 5KM Fun Run, and Family Run. The 21 KM Run will kick off at 6:15 am, setting the pace for the rest of the races.
Cairo Runners, the organizing body behind the Cairo Half Marathon, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, has announced the closure of certain streets in Heliopolis, beginning at 6 am Cairo Local Time. These closures include Fath Street from 12:00 am to 10:00 am, Hegaz Street (Right Side) from 6:00 am to 9:00 am, Farid Semeka – Salah Salem way from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, Ammar Ibn Yasser Street (both ways) from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, Farid Semeka – Gesr Suez way from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, Abdel-Hamid Badawy Street (both ways) from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, Hegaz Street (Left Side) from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, Hegaz Bridge (both ways) from 6:00 am to 9:00 am, and Ibrahim Al-Arabi Ringroad (both ways) from 6:00 am to 9:00 am.
