The Cairo International Film Festival’s management, led by esteemed artist Hussein Fahmy, has formally announced the schedule for the 45th edition of the festival. The event is set to take place at the Egyptian Opera House from November 13th to 22nd, 2024. The Minister of Culture, Nevin Kelany, had previously postponed the festival due to events that occurred in the Gaza Strip.
During the 45th session of the festival, the management finalized the new composition of the technical office, which is now led by a renowned film critic, researcher, and translator, Essam Zakaria. Zakaria has an impressive track record of authoring numerous books on films and has served in various capacities during the festival sessions. He has also contributed significantly to the festival’s publications.
Zakaria has been president of the Ismailia Film Festival since 2017. On the other hand, it has been decided to open the registration of films wishing to participate in the 45th session from 1 May to 1 August next, via the official website of the festival.
The Cairo International Film Festival holds a position of the high regard in the Arab world and is considered one of the most prestigious festivals in the region. It is noteworthy that it is the only festival in the Arab and African region to have been registered in the A-class of the FIAPF International Federation of Producers based in France, which is a significant achievement.
