Azza Fahmy embarks on this fascinating journey into the past, drawing inspiration from Egypt’s sacred tombs and temples, where the Lotus flower has held profound significance for millennia. The Lotus, which represents creation and rebirth, is honored in this collection as a symbol of the flourishing dawn.
The Lotus Union Bangle draws inspiration from the “Sema-tawy” symbol, which represents the unity of Upper and Lower Egypt by binding the Lotus and Papyrus, while the Lotus Blossom Ring elegantly depicts a budding lotus. In ancient Egypt, blossoming lotus bouquets were placed on offering tables to represent love and devotion to both loved ones and gods.
The Lotus Pectoral Collar and Lotus Bouquet Cuff are two pieces from the collection that feature the Lotus flower in various natural forms. They are surrounded by pharaonic flowering lotuses, lotus buds, lily pads, and rosettes, with “ehker” signs which indicate adornment.
