To enhance safety standards in Egypt’s growing energy sector, the American University in Cairo (AUC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum and Methanex Egypt, has launched the country’s first Process Safety Management (PSM) Diploma. This program, designed for professionals in oil, gas, and petrochemicals, aims to provide essential training in the 24 internationally recognized PSM standards vital for safe and efficient operations.
The diploma, offered through AUC’s School of Sciences and Engineering, focuses on the critical safety protocols required to prevent risks and enhance operational excellence across Egypt’s energy industries. This initiative aligns with Egypt Vision 2030, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to sustainability and safety.
“As Egypt’s energy sector evolves, safety is paramount. This program ensures our professionals are equipped with the expertise to lead in a world-class, safety-conscious industry,” said AUC President Ahmad Dallal.
Strategic Partnership for a Safer Future
This tripartite collaboration combines AUC’s academic leadership, the Ministry of Petroleum’s resources, and Methanex Egypt’s industry expertise to create a training program that prepares a new generation of process safety specialists.
“This partnership is a crucial step toward operational excellence in Egypt’s energy sector,” said Minister Karim Badawi. “Together, we’re shaping a safer, more resilient future.”
Shaping Egypt’s Energy Future
As Egypt continues to expand its natural gas and petrochemical industries, safety remains a critical focus. The PSM diploma will not only improve technical competence but also foster a deeper culture of safety within the industry—crucial for the country’s ambitious growth plans.
“We’re investing in the future by strengthening our collaboration and preparing professionals who will ensure a safer energy sector,” said Mohamed Shindy, Managing Director of Methanex Egypt.
