Aswan Women’s Film Festival Honors Spanish Actress Cuca Escribano
The management of the Aswan International Film Festival for Women revealed that it will honor the Spanish star, Cuca Escribano, at the opening ceremony of its seventh session, held next March from 5 to 10.
Journalist Hassan Abu El-Ela, director of the festival, said that Escribano has a cinematic record full of distinguished works in TV and Cinema with great stars and directors, most notably Antonio Banderas’s movie “Summer Rain” in 2006, stressing the festival’s constant keenness to honor stars and filmmakers from all over the world.
Born in 1973 in Madrid, the prolific actress gained fame for movies like, “Poniente ” in 2002, “Atlas of Human Geography” in 2007, and the international telenovela “Without Breasts, there is No Paradise”, which ran for one season from June 2008 to June 2009.
Escribano won many awards during her film career, including two ASECAN Awards for Best Film, Best Female Performance for her role in the films “The Silly Ones and the Stupid Ones” in 2014 and “Poniente” in 2002, and Bronze Remi Award for Best Dramatic Actress at WorldFest Houston for her role in “Broken Angels” in 2015, among numerous nominations throughout her career.
It is noteworthy that the Aswan International Film Festival for Women also honors Egyptian Star Nabila Ebeid for her entire cinematic career, Egyptian Media Personality Doria Sharaf El-Din in appreciation of her role in spreading cinematic culture, the Dutch director Mika de Jong in appreciation of her cinematic giving, and the Tunisian Director Salma Bakkar for her cinematic career, during its seventh session.
The event is held with the support of the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, and in partnership with Plan International Egypt, the Darsos Foundation, and the ACT Foundation, and sponsored by the National Council for Women, Aswan Governorate, Falcon Group, EgyptAir, Red Star Film Production Company, New Picture Production Company, DJ Vibes, and Vibration Studios.
