Art Cairo, one of the region’s premier art fairs returns, offering an unparalleled display of the artistic richness of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The four-day event, formerly known as the Egypt International Art Fair, is taking place at the Grand Egyptian Museum for the third consecutive year and features new international representation, including Morocco, Turkey, and Tunisia for the first time.
Expanding Regional Representation
The fair provides a platform for both local Egyptian artists and those from across the MENA region. “We aim to showcase the artistic richness of the Middle East and North Africa to local, regional, and international audiences while energizing and supporting Cairo’s dynamic art ecosystem,” says Mohamed Younis, founder and managing director of Art Cairo.
Cultural Dialogue and Artistic Exploration
In addition to showcasing a diverse range of artwork, the fair will host the Hiwar programme, a series of talks and discussions that will bring together artists, curators, and thought leaders to explore a variety of artistic themes.
A Unique Backdrop at the Grand Egyptian Museum
The event will once again take place at the Grand Egyptian Museum, located just 2 km from the Pyramids of Giza. The museum, home to the world’s largest archaeological collection, provides a unique historical and cultural backdrop for the art fair, elevating it to a new level of significance.
“Set against the unique historical and cultural backdrop of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Art Cairo serves not only as a platform for artists but also as an arena for discourse on the exciting artistic ambitions of the region,” adds Younis.
