Amb. Moushira Khatab Honored at Egypt’s Inaugural “Cultural Day” Celebration

Under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egypt launched its first “Cultural Day,” held at the Opera House’s main theater, celebrated individuals from various fields of culture and arts. On this ceremony, Amb. Moushira Khatab was honored for her work in promoting the culture of law, citizenship, and human rights.

Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, presented the awards to those who made significant contributions in 2024, including artists, academics, and cultural advocates. The event also honored those Egypt lost during the year, recognizing their enduring legacies.

Dr. Hano recognized key figures who have impacted Egypt’s cultural scene throughout 2024. The honorees included nominees from the Supreme Council of Culture’s committees, representatives from unions, and names of individuals Egypt lost in 2024.

Among the honorees from the Supreme Council of Culture’s committees were: renowned director Hani Khalifa (Cinema), director Ahmed Taha (Theater), Dr. Tarek Wali (Fine Arts and Architecture), Mohamed Abdel Hafeez Nassef (Children’s Arts), Maestro Nayer Nagy (Music, Opera, and Ballet), Dr. Ahmed Darwish (Literary, Linguistic, and Critical Studies), celebrated novelist Ibrahim Abdel Megid (Narrative Arts), poet Samih Mahgoub (Poetry), and many others from various cultural domains.

Nominees from unions included: Dr. Yousef Nofal, poet and literary critic (General Union of Egyptian Writers), Dr. Mohamed Hassan Abdallah, literary critic (General Union of Egyptian Writers), actors Youssef Fawzy, and Yahya El-Fakharani, along with directors such as Samir El-Asfouri (Theatrical Arts), and writers like Abdul Rahim Kamel and Marwan Hamed (Cinematics).

The event also honored the legacies of those Egypt lost in 2024, including poets like Mohamed Ibrahim Abou Sena and leading critic and thinker Seza Qassem, among others.

Minister Hano expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the legendary artist Mohamed Mounir, who was unable to attend due to health reasons. Hano promised to personally deliver Mounir’s award to him as a gesture of gratitude for his outstanding artistic contributions.

This celebration, which reflects the Ministry’s commitment to recognizing and preserving Egypt’s cultural heritage, marks an important moment in honoring the nation’s creative forces.
