A team of eight female charity volunteers from Birmingham, UK, worked with the charity ISRA-UK to send gender-specific products to women in Gaza to provide them with some dignity in their war-torn region.

The team arrived in Cairo, Egypt, on April 1st, where they spent a week in a warehouse packing and loading around 3,000 hygiene kits onto a lorry. Each kit contains five packets of sanitary towels, two tubes of toothpaste, a toothbrush, body lotion, hand sanitizer, a few packets of wet wipes, and shampoo. The lorry will be driven across the Rafah border into Gaza.

Saraya Hussain, a 47-year-old volunteer from Birmingham, led the deployment. She stated that the team worked tirelessly to ensure that each box was packed correctly and included handwritten messages of love, peace, and hope for the recipients. The messages were intended to show the women in Gaza that they are not alone, and that there are people who care about them and their well-being.

The team’s banner, which read “Women for Gaza,” covered the lorry and was an emotional sight for many of the volunteers when they saw it loaded and ready to go. The volunteers hope that the hygiene kits will provide some comfort and dignity to the women in Gaza who are struggling to survive in a war-torn region.
