Today, Egyptian Premier League champions Al Ahly football team is set to receive their 43rd league trophy in a postponed game against Harras El-Hodoud at Cairo Stadium.
The Premier League decided to grant Al Ahly the trophy after the game, marking the Red Devils’ return to the top spot after a two-year absence.
The African champions are hoping to celebrate their title in style against the relegated side Harras El-Hodoud who are unlikely to pose any problems for the Red Devils.
After securing the league title last week, the famed team thrashed archrivals Zamalek and Arab Contractors, both with a score of 4-1.
However, Ahly hopes to maintain their winning momentum as they aim to break some records after a highly successful season that saw them clinch two Egyptian Super Cup titles, the Egypt Cup, the CAF Champions League, and the domestic league.
Notably, if they manage to win their remaining three games, Ahly will break their record of 89 points gained in one season in 2020.
They also want to break the record for the number of goals scored in one season by scoring 14 more to beat their 2018 record of 75 goals.
The Ahly coach plans to field his full squad for the game to give his players a chance to celebrate their remarkable season.
