The much-awaited 55th Cairo International Book Fair edition kicks off at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo today until February 6th. The fair hosts 1200 publishers from 70 countries. Themed “We Make Knowledge, We Preserve the Word,” this edition aims to promote cultural exchange and creative interaction.
This year, the fair honors Norway as the guest of the year, highlighting the country’s rich literary heritage. The Norwegian pavilion, designed with intricately engraved wood, proudly displays their slogan for the exhibition, “The Dream We Carry.” A high-level delegation from Norway’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Norwegian Literature Promotion Abroad Authority (NORLA) inspected the pavilion’s readiness for the arrival of Her Royal Highness Princess, Mette Märte.
The Norwegian delegate will participate in over conceding 50 events co-organized by NORLA and the Children’s Book Institute, Oslo. One of the highlights is Edvard Munch’s famous painting, “The Sun Rise,” at the guest-of-honor pavillion to immerse the guests with his artistry.
The Cairo International Book Fair aligns with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture’s commitment to cultural equity and openness. The fair will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, except Thursdays and Fridays. Entrance tickets are available for the affordable price of L.E. 5 and can be conveniently purchased online.
