Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) officially opened submissions in all categories for creators who are wishing to participate in activities of its upcoming 45th edition, on its official website, starting from April 15, 2023, until August 1, 2023.
The Cairo International Film Festival announced the dates of its 45th edition with the opening ceremony to be held at the Cairo Opera House, as it will be held from 15 to 24 November 2023.
The Cairo Industry Days will feature the Cairo Film Connection (CFC) which will be running for the 10th year. The CFC focuses on supporting film projects in many production phases.
The last edition witnessed a large public turnout, and the number of guests participating in the festival reached 480.
CIFF President, Hussein Fahmy, proudly praised the last edition hailed in success, promising that the next edition “no less than the previous one in terms of the quality and level of films and the rather important participating guests.”
The festival’s director, Amir Ramses, announced that this year’s edition would feature a new competition for documentary films.
The 44th edition screened 108 films from 53 countries, including 30 films that made their global and international premieres, and 57 films that premiered in the Middle East and North Africa.
Among these were award-winning films like Alcarràs, Bread and Salt, EO, Saint-Omer, Banshees of Inisherin, and The Fabelmans.
The festival also hosted industry stars such as Bella Tarr, Naomi Kawase, Matthew Kassowitz, Jean-Luc Godard, and many other acclaimed filmmakers and actors.
The CIFF is one of the most prestigious and long-standing film festivals in the Arab world and Africa.
