The proceedings of the second half of the conference day, Thursday, witnessed the hosting of several important discussion sessions, including a session entitled “Genetics: The Egyptian Genome Project Updates”, bringing together Maj. Gen. Dr. Khaled Amer Egypt Center For Research & Regenerative Medicine, Prof. Neveen Soliman, Professor of Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology, Kasr Al Ainy School of Medicine, Cairo University, Prof. Emma Baple, Clinical Geneticist and Scientist in Genomic Medicine and Medical Director of the Genome Center – University of Exeter, Dr. Yehia Gad, Professor of Medical Molecular Genetics at the National Research Center and elected head of the scientific committee of the project, and Dr. Amal Abo El-Maaty, a Faculty Member at the National Research Center, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research.
Furth, another session took place under the title “Rheumatological Heart Disease”, with the participation of Dr. Elijah N. Ogola, Head of the Clinical Medicine Department at the University of Nairobi, Consultant Clinical Cardiologist and Researcher in cardiovascular risk factors in Africa, and Dr. Fathi Maklady, Professor of Cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Suez Canal University.
The second conference day also witnessed a specialized Urology session with the participation of Dr. Sherif Murad, Professor of Urology at Ain Shams University, Secretary General of the Egyptian Urology Association and Honorary President of, and Dr. Igor Vaz, MD, the founder of Focus Fistula Mozambique.
In addition to a session entitled “Health Investments for Responsive Health Systems in Africa” attended by Dr. Daniella Munene External Affairs Head of AHB, hosting Dr. Rebecca Kiptui, Acting CEO of Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority, Dr. Morgan Shetty President of Healthcare Federation of South Africa, Prof. Doaa Al Damardash, Lecturer of Internal Medicine & Clinical Hematology Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt, Jonathan Kaitel Director of Strategy and Transformation, Diagnostics Africa Roche, and Erica Monfardini, Director of Data and Partnerships at B Medical Systems.
In addition to a discussion session entitled “Bending the Execution Curve: Implementing Successful Organizational Change in Hospitals and Healthcare Organizations”, with the participation of Dr. Mohamed Hablas, Regional Director of the Saudi German Healthcare Hospital in Egypt and North Africa, Dr. Sheikh Mohieldin, Secretary General of the American Health Leaders Association in the Middle East and North Africa, Dr. Amanda Nickam, Dr. Rola Hammoud, President of ACHE MENA, and Dr. Osama Musallam, International consultant in healthcare management.
This is in addition to a specialized session about liver transplant, taking place with the participation of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University and the former Dean of the Faculty of medicine at Ain Shams University, Prof. Ehab Abdel-Khalek, Professor of Liver Transplantation, Hepatology, and Digestive Diseases at Mansoura University. Dr. Manal El-Sayed, Professor of Pediatrics and Head of the Clinical Research Unit – Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Andreas Ateke, Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Expanded Program on Immunization in Cameroon, and Bilirani Wezi, Director of the Department HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C, Ministry of Health, Malawi, Prof. Ponceanu Okama, Uganda, Dr. Bona Jacinilwe Jabakgor, Ministry of Health, Botswana, as well as Harvey Alter, Virologist and Nobel Prize Laureate in physiology.

During the second half of the day, a session was held under the title “The Egyptian Drug Authority: Paving the Way for Sustainable Production of Biomedical Products in Africa”, with the participation of Dr. Ayman Al-Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority, Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA), Dr. Maïmouna Diop Ly, Senior Advisor on Public Health Policy and sanitation and Financing · Speak Up Africa, and Greg Perry, Assistant Director General of IFPMA, Dr. Larbi Nifati, Operations Team Leader at the Islamic Development Bank, and Dr. Jadson Wendell Ade, Chair of the African Private Sector Summit «LBG», Dr. Mohamed Rabih El-Sayed, CEO of BioGeneric Pharma, and Dr. Johnpaul Omollo, Senior Policy, and Advocacy Officer at the Path Institution.
In addition to a panel discussion entitled “Climate Change Leadership in Healthcare”, in which Dr. Ida Fayman, Director of Learning Programs at the Beniva Sustainability Center, and Ryan Crowder. Programme Lead – Strategic Initiatives at Geneva Sustainability Center – IHF, Dr. Jhoan, and Dr. Hisham Abdel Ghaffar at Mut University participated as panelists.
The second conference day also witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between ACDIMA – Arab Co. For Drugs Industries & Medical Appliance and the Qatari Aamal Holding for exporting Egyptian pharmaceuticals to Qatar and Gulf countries.
