According to Egypt today website the Rafah Border Crossing has been closed since Israel escalated its operations in Gaza by deploying ground troops to Rafah city near the border with Egypt on May 7th. Israeli forces took control of the Palestinian side of the crossing, leading to Egypt’s condemnation. As a result, Cairo has refused to coordinate with Israel on aid delivery to Gaza through the crossing.
Egypt has reiterated its firm stance, emphasizing the need for Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing as a vital condition for the crossing to be reopened.
