Shereen Allam

Founder and President of AWTAD NGO

Born in Alexandria, Egypt and studied business administration in the American University in Cairo and graduated with highest honors. Worked in the corporate world for five years in various positions and resigned her last post in the United Nations to start her own company.

Baby Boom a design, manufacture and distribution company of baby’s clothes was born in 1990.

It was born in a garage with three machines and 2 workers and when sold in 2001 it had 150 machines, 200 workers, 250 retail shops and one private store.

One week after selling this company she established with her husband a printer cartridge recycling company to support the environmental movement and to make sure that garbage is reduced and reused in her country.

This was a new topic with many challenges and she took them on and managed to convince within two year 250 national and multinational organizations to collaborate with Ecotek to recycle their cartridges. Within the next five years she added to their company line of products around three international brands in the field of computer accessories and virtual computing.

In 2008 believing in the power of the people in Egypt she established an NGO, AWTAD, and moved on to improve the environment supporting the economic empowerment of women and youth. Today AWTAD is supporting young start up entrepreneurs, women in their quest for economic freedom, artisans in their fight to break the glass ceiling they live under and youth in finding their path.

In 2013 she established a new company called JEZOOR to work with young entrepreneurs to stand tall during the first three years of their incorporation to ensure that the survival rate of startups is on the rise. It also offers simulations and trainings on behavioral change and breaking stereotyping in Egypt and managing teams.

She is a business woman, mentor, consultant, designer and dreamer of making things happen for others as much as for her.
