Gielan El Messiri has 25 years of extensive experience in the area of gender equality and women’s empowerment, having held various positions in government, development consultancy, bilateral donors and the United Nations. Since 2014, she has served in management positions at the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Egypt, where her focus has been on developing and expanding innovative partnerships with public and private sector partners to support key areas, including gender equality, prevention of violence against women, women’s financial inclusion, support to women-owned businesses and other priorities critical for Egypt’s achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
