About Me

Nermeen Abou Gazia is the CEO and board member of Al Alfi Foundation for Human and Social Development (AAF). Al Alfi Foundation is one of the prominent NGOs in Egypt that aims at developing people with high capability in order to improve their surrounding social and economic environment. The Foundation is a celebration and continuation of the family legacy of the very well-known businessman, Moataz Al Alfi, the CEO of Egypt Kuwait Holding Co. and the Vice Chairman Board of Trustees at the American University in Cairo. Together and through the Foundation, Moataz Al Alfi and Nermeen Abou Gazia have paved promising futures for students who aspire to be reality changers, through education and capacity building. Ms. Nermeen Abou Gazia holds a Master’s degree in International Management Program from Ludwigsburg University, Germany, a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication (Public Relations and Marketing) from the American University in Cairo, as well as a diploma in Integrated Marketing and Communication from the AUC. She has an in-depth experience in the MENA region, in school education, executive education, business development, and she is managing several educational entities and initiatives with regional and international partners. Due to her expertise and knowledge, she is assigned as Vice Board Member to the National Council of Education and coordinates directly with the Ministry of Education in Egypt. Ms. Abou Gazia is the first Egyptian woman assigned as an entrepreneur to be nominated in the Women “Mentoring leadership program”, 2007. The program was hosted by the US State Department, Fortune Magazine and Vital Voices Organization. She was mentored on leadership by the top business women in Sweden and among the top 20 worldwide Ms. Louise Julian-CEO of EF. She is currently actively participating in the 4th edition of the Women Talent Pool Programme organized by the European Network for Women in Leadership. Her current passion is in using entrepreneurship as a pathway to sustainable economic growth and job creation; believing in supporting the startups and the entrepreneurs and in helping them to practice the knowhow. To fulfill this aim she has established “The STEM Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program at Al Alfi Foundation”. She has accumulated qualifications and experience through attended courses in leadership, mentoring, and managing high-performance teams, mind maps for business, leadership skills, management skills, marketing and strategic marketing, creativity and lateral thinking. She believes that business growth becomes exponential if fueled with personal growth and education. Ms. Abou Gazia’s adaptability allows her to work with different organizational levels, design and deliver relevant learning experience, and meet specific objectives.  Her approach inspires people to challenge existing mindsets and behaviors in order to excite them about the potential and opportunities that can come with adopting new learning. Ms. Nermeen Abou Gazia believes that with her great focus on delivering successful strategies, emerging tools as well as the specific skills and policies necessary to build the proficiency of STEM undergraduates and post graduates students, and by providing challenging enrichment opportunities and sponsorship to fellows with superior capabilities, she seeks to raise the public awareness on STEM education and its importance and value for a better future.  She also believes that school principals, educators, teachers need continuous training to improve the educational system in Egypt. Based on that belief, and throughout her work at Al Alfi Foundation, She was able to grant 5000 fellowships encompassing students scholarships to pursue their studies in the most prominent international universities (such as Harvard, Imperial College London), enrichment programs that sparkle students’ abilities, and the capacity building of the educational system key pillar, the teachers. Ms. Abou Gazia has been able to organize many workshops and training programs for teachers’ development, as she actively participates in establishing areas of learning and education as an important pillar in her dedication and passion to the Egyptian education improvement effort. She believes in knowledge as a core pillar, as well as transparency, team work, equity, and above them all the responsibility to build the new future leaders and scientists, also responsibility to promote excellence in human achievement.
