Merit developed an early interest in Strategy, Economics Research and Transformation. She launched her career working in different industries from Telecommunications, Automotive and Banking respectively, where she has a collective solid experience of over 18 years. By making an industry leap to Banking, her track record has been nothing but exemplar. Merit was the driving force for major initiatives in the Bank which supported the Bank growth into a financial group for the past decade.  Additionally, she spearheaded the Strategy write up for AAIB as well as downscaling the Bank to address the most under-served market segment in Egypt – the Micro Entrepreneurs being the first bank in the industry to do it. She is a graduate of the American University in Cairo, where she received her bachelor degrees with High Honors in Business and Economics ’01. She obtained her Master’s in Business from Edinburgh Business School and is currently a PhD candidate in Paris ISM.
