CEO of COMESA Regional Investment Agency
Heba Salama is an expert on business and investment promotion and cooperation, specialized on African countries and regional economic communities. With a background of over 20 years working in the region, she now heads the COMESA Regional Investment Agency, where she set-up and launched the Agency’s operations, promotes the COMESA region as a single market and an attractive investment destination. She also manages initiatives aiming to further improve the business and investment climates of COMESA Member States.
Under her leadership, the Agency was able to implement approximately 35 training programs and to perform institutional development of the COMESA Investment Promotion Agencies with the presence of about 700 trainees. She also succeeded to implement and develop 12 websites and 12 investor relations program.
In addition, she organized 9 international and regional conferences with the aim of promoting the continent’s investment climate, most recently the Africa 2018 Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh.
Furthermore, Salama did 40 studies and promotional publications on the investment climate in the COMESA countries.
Salama has provided leadership for various initiatives and promoted increased cooperation in the field of investment promotion, capacity building for investment promotion agency, in cooperation with various development partners.
In 2012, Salama was appointed as the Trade and Investment Representative of the Republic of Seychelles in Egypt. She has spent most of her life in Zambia where, among other things, she set-up, managed, and owned various businesses.
