About Me

Dr. Mona El-Baradei, has been the Executive Director of the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI), the training arm of the Egyptian Central Bank, from 2011 to 2017. During her tenure, El-Baradei has managed to achieve a remarkable development in the EBI’s performance and played a vital role in spreading of banking culture in addition to the increase and development of training courses to comply with international standards. EBI is one of the most important institutions that play an active role in the financial inclusion initiatives launched by the state and the Central Bank of Egypt. It also plays a pioneering role in training the bankers and preparing cadre. In recognition of her efforts in the field of financial education and the launching of “Ashan Bokra” initiative, Egypt won the State Prize for the Middle Eastern and North African Region for the year 2015, from Child and Youth Finance International Movement and it’s a success calculated for Dr. Mona ElBaradei, which enabled her to join the list of the most influential women in the Egyptian economy. Under her leadership, EBI made recognizable efforts in the field of financial education and launched “Ashan Bokra” initiative. This led to having Egypt won the State Prize for the Middle Eastern and North African Region for the year 2015, from Child and Youth Finance International Movement. In June 2018, El-Baradei was appointed as Member of the Risks Committee at Crédit Agricole Egypt. Prior to joining the EBI, El-Baradei was the first woman to serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science in Egypt in recognition of her distinguished scientific and practical role and her vast experience in teaching and managing. She was also a Member of the National Council for Women (NCW) Cairo Branch from 2003 to 2008, Board Member of Trustees of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones from 2004 to 2007. In addition, she was a Member of the Supreme Committee for Developing the Higher Education Fund from 2006 to 2009, the Labor Advisory Council from 2008 to 2011, and the National Council for Women (NCW) from 2009 to 2011. El-Baradei has authored and co-authored a vast number of publications and research papers in different fields such as Economic Development, Human Resources Development, Energy Economics, and the Economics of Education. Moreover, El-Baradei has been a consultant for a number of organizations including: UNDP, UNICEF, UNESCO, the Population Council, the Social Fund for Development, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Higher Education.
