About Me

Mariam is a member of shalakany’s project development and finance, banking and finance and capital markets departments. She handled several ppp projects, acting for both the procuring entity and the bidders. Further, Mariam acted for number of developers on wind and solar projects under Egypt’s feed in tariff regime. In addition, Mariam is currently acting for JBIC, NEXI and other commercial banks on the financing of the 250 MW BOO wind farm project in the Gulf of Suez, which achieved financial close in December 2017. She is also currently acting on behalf of a consortium of IFIS as lenders local counsel in relation to two new BOO wind farm power projects with a combined capacity of 500 MW. She is also acting for SACE and the commercial lenders in relation a USD 1.2 billion financing of the modernization and expansion of MIDOR’S refinery. Mariam acted for EBRD on the financing of the two separate Egyptian manufacturing projects each with a value of USD 50 million, in addition to representing EBRD in several other finances. She acted on behalf of the borrowers, the Egyptian Bahraini gas derivatives company, in a USD 66.5 million loan transaction. She also acted for the lenders in relation to a USD 600 million term loan facility to the national bank of Egypt. Mariam obtained an LL.B from Cairo University in 2007 and an LL.M from Indiana university in August 2010. Mariam joined the shalakany’s corporate development in 2007 and she has been elected to the partnership in December 2017. Dr. Abla Abd EL Latif Executive Director & Director of Research at the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies ( ECES ) Abla Abd EL Latif former Chairperson of the Consultative Council for Economic Development of the Egyptian Presidency. It is a council that had been established as an initiative by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to benefit from those who have experiences outside the executive branch of the state; it focuses on two key factors: an economic development and the reform of economic institutions. During 2015, the council had succeeded in releasing many projects and development initiatives in a number of economic aspects, like “Entaleq”; an initiative based on leading businesses and adopting youth’s ideas, facilitating financing, developing youth’s economic ideas, and finding encouraging financing bank. In addition, the council has released the 1000 Factory project in the Fifth Settlement Area in New Cairo and the “Wazeftak Gamb Beetak” project, that supports small and medium enterprises and involves establishing 10 factories in every governorate across the country. Abd EL Latif participates through the council in establishing a fund to support defaulted factories. She has got her PHD in Economics from California University, USA.
